Green Egg Magazine welcomes original work reflecting the diverse voices, experiences, traditions, ideas, and creative expressions of the Pagan community.
We consider Pagan-related fiction, nonfiction, essays, poetry, personal perspectives, political and cultural commentary relevant to Pagan readers, artwork, photography, book and product reviews, and written music.
Writers, artists, photographers, and composers who would like their work considered for publication should email submissions to submissions@greeneggmagazine.com with the subject line “Submission for Green Egg Magazine.”
Green Egg Magazine is published digitally four times each year in conjunction with the solstices and equinoxes. Our goal is to showcase writers and creators with knowledge, talent, experience, insight, and perspectives of interest to Pagans, Wiccans, Witches, Heathens, magical practitioners, and the broader Pagan community.
Length and Content
Appropriate length varies according to the type of work submitted; a poem, for example, will naturally differ in length from an essay. As a general guideline, articles and essays should be fewer than 2,000 words.
We especially appreciate work that is thoughtful, engaging, illuminating, provocative, heartfelt, or otherwise offers our readers something worth considering. We welcome a variety of voices and perspectives and do not require contributors to represent the views of Green Egg Magazine or its staff.
Important Things to Know Before You Submit
• Content for each issue is selected in part according to that issue’s theme, available space, and the overall balance of material. A submission may be held for consideration for a later issue if it is better suited to a future theme or publication date.
• You may submit only material that you created yourself or that you have documented permission to submit and publish.
• Images, artwork, and photography must be your own work or material for which you have permission or an appropriate license to use. Please verify copyright and licensing requirements before submitting any image you did not personally create.
• Green Egg Magazine reserves the right to edit submissions for grammar, clarity, formatting, and length. Our goal when editing is to preserve the author’s voice, intent, and message.
• Lengthy submissions may, when appropriate and with editorial discretion, be divided or serialized across multiple issues.
• Submission of material does not guarantee publication.
• Green Egg Magazine reserves the right to reprint previously accepted and published material in future issues or Green Egg collections and archives.
• For previously unpublished material, Green Egg Magazine requests exclusivity for 90 days following its first publication by Green Egg. This exclusivity period does not apply to material that was already published elsewhere before its appearance in Green Egg.
• Green Egg Magazine does not provide financial or monetary compensation for submissions.
• Contributors whose work is published receive a complimentary digital copy of the issue containing their work.
• Submission deadlines are the first day of the month in which each quarterly issue is published: March 1, June 1, September 1, and December 1.
• Because we receive more material than we can publish, we cannot accept every submission. Editorial decisions may take into account quality, relevance, theme, available space, balance of content, and the needs of a particular issue.
