Lovely, fragrant lavender is a favorite herb of Green Witches, appreciated for its peaceful, calming influence, this herb is frequently infused into oils and included in perfumes, soaps, and incenses.
There are many different strains of lavender but all of them convey the same properties. It has a sweet, dusky, powdery smell and beautiful purple blooms.
When applied as an oil or the flowers burned, lavender is great for treating headaches. Distilled into a face wash, it treats acne.
Lavender’s primary use in magic is to promote peace, tranquility, and calmness. These qualities make it a great sleep agent and people often use it in sleep pillows, eye masks, and linen sprays.
The effect lavender has on relationships is twofold. On one hand, it draws in romantic love, especially for those who wish to attract male attention. The other attribute it possesses is protective, specifically of women and people who identify as feminine.
It is similar to the Cleo May magic used by sex workers in 19th century New Orleans Hoodoo spells to draw in the right male contact and protect the user from abusive men. For that reason, some Witches use lavender to protect victims of domestic abuse until they can take steps toward a more permanent solution.
Lavender lifts the energy of any place to a higher vibration and increases connection to spirit guides, ancestors, and the beloved deceased.
