Part Five Redux. I see Life as episodic and worthy of capitalization. Life is episodic because it can be seen as a sequence of minor or major adventures, either challenges or opportunities—trivial or difficult challenges that we must confront, some harder and some easier than others, some that may be met and resolved in a day and others that may take years to resolve; and both small and great opportunities that we can either recognize and accept or ignore and reject, perhaps out of pure ignorance (being too stupid to recognize an opportunity when we get one) or perhaps out of self-doubt and fear (unwilling to accept an opportunity for fear of failure). Life presents us a rather constant series of challenges and opportunities, and were we properly trained to live our lives, we would appreciate these gifts better and avail ourselves of their generous benefits. But the great majority of us are not at all trained in how to live our lives. We are protected from Life’s challenges and programmed to see them as obstacles, impediments, and problems, conditions to be avoided if possible or escaped from as soon as possible. Then, when opportunities arise, we are unprepared for them because we have not met the challenges and gained the strength and confidence we need to benefit from those opportunities.
Both, the challenges and the opportunities that Life presents us, require that we act, that we take action in response to them, but it is not enough merely that we act; rather we must act deliberately and with reasoned consideration to the consequence of our action. We come into this world as spiritual beings with boundless potentials, for doing good or ill, for kind or mean lives, for great or trivial lives. Our potentials for achievement of wonderful things are abundant, but our world makes us before we are able to make our world. So it is that many of us must begin our adult lives discarding the misconceptions placed on us by our elder generations, ridding ourselves of the person we were expected to be by our parents and rediscovering the person inside us that nature imbued us with the potentials to become. We are guided by nature, by Life, through an unending series of challenges and opportunities to awaken us to the I-inside, to come to know ourselves and to fulfill our deepest potentials.
These potentials, like the number continuum, extend as far into the negative as they extend into the positive, and if we allow our world to make us without seeking to find our highest potentials, we may be set on a negative course from which we might never rebound. Those of us who never discover our true selves will quietly become the good obedient children and adults that our parents and elders groom us to be, or the treacherous subhumans that their cruelties make us into. The world indeed has too many such people who have been honed into perfect reflections of the world from which they’ve arisen, people who failed to ever recover their freeborn spiritual potentials or discover the path to their highest destiny, living instead a fated path among fated peoples, bound no less by wealth than by poverty, no less by success than by failure, bound to menial and aimless lives of failed challenges, missed opportunities, and lost dreams. The spirit within us whispers from the heart that we are born into our worlds to leave them better than we have found them.
The menes can see the world as it is and give you measure of the moment. But how to read them, how to know their messages (?). You’ve taken the first step by learning the message of each mene as it relates to other menes, learning the spirit within each mene as taught by the Essynian Mysteries. You know the four most powerful menes, the divine menes, the six world menes, the dominant menes and the subdominant menes. But thus far the meaning of the menes are abstract and remote; you need something more relevant and informative from them if they are to be of value to you in guiding you through Life.
In numerology, the numbers are often used to interpret dates as in 11/27/1905 = 1+1+2+7+1+9+0+5 = 26 & 2+6 = [8], or used by some to interpret words and names by the methods of Gematria, attaching numerical value to letters of one alphabet or another (Hebrew, Greek, Latin, English, etc). In the Essynian Meneology, the menes are generated by six special cards or disks, round as a circle—three cards with black backs represent the three trines (or triplicities) and three other cards with white backs represent the three elementals. The Table below is used to determine the Mene.
The Trine Cards or Disks have either an orange Sun for the Solar Trine, a blue Star for the Stellar Trine, or a purple Moon for the Lunar Trine. The Elemental Cards or Disks have either a purple Spade for Stone or Earth indicating the Chthonic Dominant menes, a green Wave for Water or River indicating the Hydronic Subdominant menes, or a red diamond for Fire or Flame indicating the Pyrronic Subdominant menes. The cross-section of the trine and the elemental card or disk selected is the chosen mene.
Menic Dice have symbols instead of numbers, but regular six-sided dice can be used just as well where the special dice are not available. The Trine (Triplicity) Die replaces 2 & 5 with an orange Sun symbol on a black background; 3 & 4 are replaced with a purple Moon symbol on a black background; and 1 & 6 are replaced with a blue Star symbol on a black background. The Elemental Die replaces 1 & 6 with a purple Spade on a white background; replaces 3 & 4 with green Waves on a white background; and replaces 2 & 5 with a red Diamond on a white background.
Some Interpretive Images for the Ten Menes
[Nonz/0] is Spirit, the root of all Being and Source of all Potentiality, the One Without Other.
Nonz (Nahnz) is Spirit, the source and seed of all Being. Nonz is existence, being, what is. Nonz is potentiality and promise, what may become. Nonz is the hidden essence at the core of things; clean away all the obstructions and complications, and Nonz is the clean and clear simplicity that’s left. Nonz is the everlasting present, the Here & Now of things. Nonz is someone who lives in the Now, in the moment. Nonz is a hidden treasure, or a hidden truth. Nonz is a Pentacle; it is a total eclipse of the Sun or the Moon. Nonz is enlightenment or satori experience, the gentle kiss of eternity. It is a baby sleeping in its cradle. It is the voice that whispers on the wind. It is the smell of fresh puppies, kittens, colts, calves, or chicklets (etc.). Nonz is the look that only lover’s eyes may know. Nonz is the unpicked rose bathed in morning’s dew. Nonz is a thousand stars in a sky as black as pitch; it shimmers from the icy branch and glazes on the frosted pane. Nonz is Grandmother Night, the immortal darkness behind and before all stars in the celestial sphere.
[Ohn/1] is the Conscious Mind, the Inner Being, the Vortex between Experience and Action.
Ohn (Ohn) is the conscious mind, the I-inside, the self, the astral universe that exists in time alone but not in space. Energy is the Mind as seen from the outside looking in, and the Mind is Energy as seen from the inside looking out; its all a matter of perspective. Ohn is very introverted, to the point of being absent-minded about other things; they can forget the year for months but remember the value of pi to twelve places for years. Ohn is very nerd, very socially inept, very difficult to reach. Ohn may be autistic. Ohn is more likely than other mene characters to be either mentally gifted or impaired in some way. Impaired minds include both disabled minds and troubled minds. Ohn is also more likely to have a good and kind heart than other menes; they are less self-interested and manipulative. Ohns can be naive and easily hurt; and if often hurt, they become cynical even paranoid. Ohn is also the mene of consistency and continuance, hence reliable and trustworthy. Ohn can be dull, can indicate boredom, being in a rut. Ohn can be single-minded, determined, faithful to a person or a cause. Ohn may also, of course, represent solitude or loneliness, by choice or by fate
[Dwa/2] is the Experience of the Body and the Material Plane, Sensory Perception.
Dwa (Dwah) focuses on material and physical sensations, the physical senses and sensual pleasures—and pains. Dwa can be an out-going pleasure seeker or an introvert hypochondriac. The senses can be Dwa’s favorite toys or its domineering masters. Dwas are intrepid observers and audiences; they love performances of all kinds, plays and movies, symphonies and musicals and musical shows of all kinds. Dwas love to travel and tour, visit tourist sites and wonders of the world and all those intimate little get-away places. Dwas make excellent workers because they use a lot of money for travel and entertainment. They make very good actors because they love to emote and feel; this means they can often be “drama queens”. Dwas like to binge-watch TV serials; they cry watching movies, listening to music, watching videos with babies and pets. They have vivid memories and imaginations. Dwa is sensitive, affectionate, passionate, excellent cuddlers, humorous, moody at times, sensual, usually handsome/beautiful because they work at it. They are fond of fruits and berries, and they love to read, or at least did when they were young.
[Deré/3] is the Cosmic Phenomenon of Experience as the In-flowing Function of Consciousness.
Deré (Dehr.ay) is experience, the cosmic phenomenon by which we interact with ourselves, with each other, and with our world. Experience is how the outer world is drawn into the inner self, the mind. Experience is always an in-flowing, absorbent process like water, always in-flowing, down-falling, left-spinning. Experience is a net-positive process in which information and energy is gained through learning and growing. Knowledge and growth are symbolized by Deré, as is water and rain and rivers and seas. Deré is the Moon as Zyne is the Sun. Deré is feminine as Zyne is mascsuline. Deré is cold while Zyne is hot; it is wet while Zyne is dry; it is contemplative where Zyne is active and impulsive; it is dark as Zyne is bright. As Zyne embodies Love, Deré embodies Truth. Deré is long life and old age where Zyne is potential and the promise of youth. Deré is remembrance and intellect; it is physical gravitation and mental attraction. Deré is the philosopher but not the priest, the writer but not the romanticist, the scientist who ponders the immeasurable, the teacher who learns from her students. Deré can be hedonistic and self-indulgent, can be unreliable and fickle, can be inconsistent and two-faced, incapable of commitment or responsibility—can be, but ain’t necessarily so.
[Kras/4] is the Experience of the Inner Being and the Astral Plane, Awareness of Mental Activity.
Kras (Krah) is the experience of the inner being, the I-inside, suggesting a very introverted person. Kras is the mene of spiritual awareness and self-knowledge; such knowledge usually produces a character of humility and compassion. Ultimately, the inward path brings wisdom, but there are many side-tracks on the way, sources of the sage’s humility. Kras characters may become dreamers of fantasies, and may not function well in the world. They can be fragile, but they can also get hostile. Some are prone to episodes of depression and alcoholism or addiction. Kras is a meme that is seldom home to a healthy bank account; money comes in just long enough to wave bye, and the Kras person could care less for it. They’re comfortable living in poverty. Many Kras people practice alternative religions, or alternatives to religion. Kras is a meme of hearing voices, the phantom voices of the schizophrenic and the voice of spirit whispering from deep within the heart. Kras is intuition and empathy, insight and enlightenment. Feeling with the mind and seeing with the heart.
[Vin/5] is Physical Action, Behaviour & Motion, the Manifestation of Choice as Action.
Vin (Veen) is the primary mene of the athlete and soldier; it is the mene of predominantly physical action, not to the exclusion of mental activity of course, but much to its sublimation. The Vin person enjoys “putting it on the line,” and pursuing physically demanding careers, even labour-heavy jobs like construction work and agriculture. The Vin personality finds satisfaction in a day of heavy action followed by an evening of rest and pleasure. Vin is the mene of behaviour, both good and bad behaviour, the mene of both, Doctors Without Borders and local thugs running two-bit extortion rackets. Vin may indicate a behaviour that needs to be changed (like changing bad hygiene or speeding), or stopped (like a bad habit or an addiction), or started (like doing volunteer work or counting your blessings). Vin may also indicate a process in motion that will bring good or bad consequences; something is happening now that will bring desired benefits later or undesired outcomes later.
[Zyne/6] is the Cosmic Phenomenon of Action as the Out-flowing Function of Consciousness.
Zyne (Zighn) is the mene of action, pure action of any and every kind, action as in bringing about change, causing the wheel of time to nudge forward (or backward for that matter), creating motion, or stopping it, mental (inner) activity or physical (outer) activity; any manner of doing or being done or having it done, even inaction when such is an active withholding of action. Zyne often represents a type-A or hyper-active person, someone who is always planning and doing something, a doer, an achiever, often a businessman or woman. They may have multiple businesses under way or in the planning. They are people who often multitask, and business is not their only focus; they may be artists, activists, organizers, campaign managers, agents, etc. They thrive on accomplishment, and often press their associates for the completion of projects they are pursuing; as such they can be quite callous towards those who work with them and for them. Zyne is not marked exclusively by success after success; they may be just as driven to achieve even if they are constant failures, although abundant failure can lead an achiever to suicide, at which they usually succeed.
[Seph/7] is Mental Action Manifesting the Potential of Spirit as Vision, Deliberation, and Choice.
Seph (Sehf) is mental action, the mind at work, thinking and pondering ideas and options for action, comparing options and choices and weighing them against deeply held values, making choices and decisions and executing actions to realize those choices, imagining possibilities and obstacles to achieving them, recalling memories new and old, all the stream of consciousness mental activities of the mind; this is the process and action included in Seph. Seph indicates a worried mind, a mind burdened with concerns. Seph may also represent an extremely creative mind, a mind that is filled not with concerns but with ideas and dreams and possibilities. Seph is the meme of judgment and weighing options in the balance (like guilty or not guilty, to be or not to be, to dare or not to dare); in this regard, Seph is also courage, including the courage of one’s convictions. The Seph person is willing to believe when facts do not support conclusions, having faith in logic and reason to support tentative conclusions. Seph is a very mentally active person who is prone to be an introvert; scholars and scientists crowd around this mene, as do creative artists and writers.
[Agré/8] is the Energy-Body as the physical Embodiment of the Conscious Mind, the Outer Being.
Agré (Ah.gray) is the mene of the physical body, the flesh and blood embodiment in which the conscious mind is incarnated. Remember that all matter is ultimately comprised of energy; matter is energy and energy is mind; this the bond between mind and matter. The body is flesh enfolded in energy, what Juan Matus called a Luminous Egg. Energy is absorbed into the body through our experiences, and energy is radiated from the body through our actions and behaviour. This transactional relation between each of us and the world around us is central to understanding the physical body and the Agré mene. As you might expect, Agré is very much about physical health, both good and bad health conditions. Agré identifies the athlete, as well as those who focus on personal fitness. When Agré is added to another mene, it reduces it by one, and when it is multiplied by another mene it produces the complement of that mene. This might be the mene of someone who derives satisfaction from putting other people down, or someone who creates conflicts, but perhaps it is instead someone who inspires humility. Agré may be seen as one who seeks balance, symmetry, and equity, or someone who finds in themselves or in others a thoroughly new point of view or insight that inspires re-examination of tired old ideas.
[Numa/9] is Consciousness as the Source of All Action and Experience, Maker of the Two Worlds.
Numa (Nuu.muh) is the whole and the all of a thing, the entirety, from the soil and seed to the flower and fruit of it. It is the ruling agency, the controlling factor. It is the root issue, the source of all other matters. Numa may also refer to the turning point or nexus between complementary or opposing forces, between income and outflow, between the rise and fall of some enterprise. Numa can be the change in fate from rise to fall or from fall to rise; it can be the pivotal incident or condition. As maker of the two worlds, Numa may represent a good thing with bad consequences or a bad thing with good consequences; it may be someone who pretends to be what they are not, a deceiver, but perhaps someone who is only trying to be what they cannot in good conscience permit themselves to be, hence a conflicted person. Remember, that Numa is both the one and the all, the individual and their society, the world reflected in each person and the person reflected in all of their world.
Second Order Menes. A second order mene is one of the hundred two-numeral menes from 00 – 99. Every second order mene occurs in some Product Sequence as shown in the rows below, and every second order mene has a Summary Value as shown in the columns below. As an example of a Product Sequence, consider the products of four; these are 4..8..12..16..20..24..28..32..36..40. These numbers reduce to the following menes, 4..8..3..7..2..6..1..5..9..4. Looking on row ‘4’ below, every second order mene on that row can be found in the sequence, 4837261594.
For any second order number, add the two menes to find the sum of the menes and reduce that sum to a mene. This will tell you in which column the second order mene may be found, 0/9 – 8 below at the top of the chart. Go down that column until you find that second order mene and that row is the sequence the second order mene is in. It’s quite simple.
Sequence. The sequence of any number is simply the sequence from the first to the last numeral in the number; you don’t have to worry about the numbers in between them. The sequence for the number 37841 is exactly the same as for the number 31. The sequence for 22,864,329 is the sequence for 29. Sequence represents change, a change in personality or attribute of a person over time, perhaps a rich man becomes poor, or a depressed woman becomes exuberant, or an artist becomes a business man. Perhaps your confidence in an opinion will change for the better or the worse. It may also be a change in location, or a change of opportunity, or a change of plans, etc. But the sequence explains why or how the change occurs.
Sum. The sum of any double mene is simply the sum of the two menes, expressed as a mene. Sum represents relationship between two people, two groups, two enterprises, two paths (two choices). Sum may also represent the relative consequences between two choices. Not always that one is better or worse, but that one choice leads to this and another choice leads to that. Sums are always relationships and consequences, never about change.
There are two other factors that can be found regarding double menes (second order menes). One is the Product of the two menes, and the other is the Complement of the double mene. The Product is the result of multiplying the two menes together. The double mene, 87, has a product of 56, which reduces to 2/two. The Complement is the result of subtracting the double mene from 99. The double mene 87 has a complement of 99 – 87 = 12.
Product. The product of a double mene is the highest outcome possible in the circumstances, the best conceivable change, the most beneficial relationship, the most beneficent consequences, given the two menes of the double mene. Note that 9/nine will raise any other number, except zero, to nine; and 0/zero will raise any number to zero. Note that any 3/three or 6/six will raise any world number (1.2.4.8.7.5) to a three or a six (divine numbers), and they will raise any divine number to nine. Multiplying by any solar trine number (2.5.8) results in a change of allegiance (2*3=6, 2*5=1, and 2*7=5; therefore, 2*9=0 & 2*0=9). Multiplying by any lunar trine number (1.4.7) results in a retention of allegiance (4*3=3, 4*5=2, and 4*7=1; therefore, 4*9=9 & 4*0=0). Product = Ideal Outcome.
Complement. The complement of any double mene is the result of subtracting it from 99; thus 87 from 99 is 12. The complement—always another double mene—of 87 is 12. The complement of 79 is 20, of 48 is 51, of 99 is 00, of 06 is 93. The complement of any second order mene is the antithesis of that mene, the outcome that will not happen, the relationship that will not be held, the change that will not be manifest. It reminds us of what is lost in every gain.
It is up to the menologist to decide beforehand what the menes are meant to represent. The menologist and the querant must act together to ensure that the numbers drawn match the persons and conditions known. It may be hard for the querant to focus attention on the draws; the menologist may have to calm them, train their focus on the draws. The menologist may occasionally have to choose between two equally appropriate interpretations of a mene; in this case thew menologist should draw another mene to add clarity to the interpretation. Often readings will be unclear, but this only tells you that more information is needed to clarify the vision.
Some readings are simple questions. Does she love me? Draw cards for one mene. It may be the answer. Yes or no. If not, the answer to the question is not as simple as yes or no. Determine what the first mene is and build a double mene from there. It may tell you what’s wrong with the relationship and what’s to be done. Or it may take two or three more menes. The menes will tell you where to go.
Forgive me for redoing this chapter of the Meneology. The fact is that the menes can be used for divination; anything can. But I do not study menes for divination; I am not a diviner. To me, the menes display an astounding symmetry that reaches deep into the number continuum and our mathematical universe. They paint a clear and concise picture of the universe and its metaphysical extension such as is portrayed as well by the teachings of the Essynian Mysteries. They are a tool for seeing reality as it is, and not a tool for divination. I think the one tool for divination is the human mind. Some of us just have the gift of intuition, of seeing. Those people can take my menes, as they take the stars of heaven and make divinatory instruments out of them. To you, my dearly gifted friends, I give these menes as a gift to your extraordinary insights. And so ends my exploration of the numbers and the superb magic they enfold for those with the eyes to see.
