Tarot Talk: The Knight of Swords

By Katrina Rasbold

“Tarot Talk” is a once-a-week reading with a deep exploration of the card we pull. What are some aspects of the card (as per the original Pamela Colman Smith artwork) that  add extra dimensions to the interpretation? How does that tell us what to focus on in the coming week? This week’s card is…

THE KNIGHT OF SWORDS

The Knight of Swords heralds changes that impose a sense of urgency and impulsiveness. Commonly, this change comes from a cyclone of events that hits suddenly and unexpectedly. This change may begin with a rash or impulsive decision or may be a brought about by a situation completely out of the querent’s hands, that escalates swiftly.

If this card represents a person, he will usually be very impulsive and quick to act or react. He tends to rush in without lending much thought about the possible result of his actions. He is very defensive of those he loves.

A Deeper Look:

This knight rushes in without hestiation or thought. His sword is high, ready for battle, and his clothing blows back in the wind. Even the clouds behind him are jagged and suggest quick movement.

What to Focus On This Week:

If you have been waiting to pull the trigger or take action on something, now is the time. Imagine that the Universe just said, “CHARGE!!” and it is time to move. Regardless of what you do, when the dust settles, there will be change. The question is whether you will be part of the plunger that creates the change or the pinball that gets batted around by it.
