Stone Magic: Chalcedony

By Katrina Rasbold

Chacedony is an interesting word that people tend to pronounce in different ways, mostly because they read it and never heard it. I always heard people pronounce it as “chal-sidney” and I have trouble thinking of it as anything else. Many people I know say, “chal-see-doney.” Professor Google says the correct pronounciation is, “cal-sedony.” So there y’go.

However you say it, chalcedony is a form of mutated quartz that looks as if bubble wrap solidified on top of a white rock (also called “luna agates”), although it takes on quite a different appearance depending on where it formed.

A fascinating attribute of this stone is that it is quite powerful in resolving past traumas and removing hooks associated with the past.

This healing aspect carries over to mitigating fear, sadness, and nightmares. It helps the bearer to see things clearly without delusion.

Chalcedony wards off psychic attack and baneful magic. It promotes good fortune and encourages the wearer to make good choices and avoid natural and self-made pitfalls in life.
