Tea is the most popular drink in the entire world (as I learned from this book) and in America, I have to believe it is coffee, so The Ancient Art of Tasseography: How to Read Tea Leaves and Coffee Grounds covers everyone’s bases.

Holmes explains in detail the history of tasseography, including an excellent distinction between an “intuitive” and a “psychic.”

She gives ample attention to important topics such as choosing the best coffee or tea for readings, how to set the intention, the equipment needed, how to a make the tea or coffee, and then how to appropriately read the symbols.

There is a special section that assigns appropriate teas and coffees for each of the eight sabbats of the Wiccan Wheel of the Year, as well as the seven primary chakras.

Throughout the book are excellent recipes and meditations that are instrumental in reading the leaves or grounds. She even includes specific herbs to include in your herb garden to make the perfect tea ingredients.

Of the many metaphysical topics to explore, there are a startling few books on this ancient divinatory art. If I could make any suggestion, it would be that for people like me who have difficulty envisioning the symbols, sharing photographs or drawings of some of the more common symbols would be helpful.

This is a subject that is not especially familiar to me and so I found it a fascinating read. The information was comprehensive and well presented. I fully recommend this book as a valuable addition to a Witch’s library.
