This week in the forum there has been a wide variety of things discussed. From money and ethics, a new book release, a bit of poetry, and even murder. Let’s take a look at how all this unfolds.

First this week, an interview with Oberon Zell by Ed Hubbard of Pagan World

This was a great interview and Oberon speaks about why they decided to go with a church when the Pagan Movement first began and so much more we had not heard Oberon speak on. Here is the link to the full interview, https://www.blogtalkradio.com/paganworldradio/2024/01/14/birth-of-paganism-oberon-zell-the-early-days

Then we had this lovely bit of poetry from Pops Wylla:

Wisdom of the Dark Nights of Winter

Beneath the raven’s starry wings, the Oak King sleeps,

His frosted breath hangs heavy, where moonlight softly weeps.

The land lies cloaked in slumber, a hush upon the breeze,

But listen close, ye children, for wisdom in the trees.

The dark nights of the Cailleach, when shadows hold the sway,

They teach us of surrender, the letting go of day.

The Earth, she dreams of springtime, beneath her icy crown,

And death within the darkness, gives birth to life unbound.

The withered leaves, like secrets, lie whispered on the ground,

Of cycles ever turning, the new in old is found.

The frozen pond, a mirror, reflects the starry sky,

A lesson in stillness, where answers softly lie.

The owl’s keen eyes pierce silence, a hunter in the night,

He shows us courage hidden, in facing inner fright.

The fox’s brush, a flame of gold, against the moonlit snow,

A spark of hope reminding, that even darkness lets us grow.

So gather round the hearth fire, where embers gently glow,

And weave tales of the winter, where seeds of wisdom sow.

Let moonbeams be your teachers, the stars your guiding lights,

And find within the darkness, the strength of endless nights.

For when the Cailleach whispers, and dawn begins to break,

The Oak King will awaken, and life anew will take.

With roots that delve in darkness, and branches reach for sun,

We rise from winter’s slumber, a lesson well begun.

Remember, children of the Earth, in shadows wisdom sings,

The darkest nights can teach us, the joy that springtime brings.

May the blessings of the Cailleach be upon you, and the wisdom of the Oak King guide your way.

Then came this question:

What Pagan/ Witchcraft/ Magical/Psychic or Spiritual book influenced you the most and why?

Some very impressive books were mentioned as you will see from the responses.

Mastering Witchcraft by Paul Huson”

Creative Visualization by Shakti Gawain”

The Golden Dawn by Israel Regardie followed by Modern Magic and Mastering Witchcraft.”

Sybil Leek’s Diary of a Witch. When I started my search it was the only one I could find. Later I found Cunningham’s books, and they helped shape my practice. I continue to read, search and learn as my practice evolves.”

Drawing Down the Moon by Margo Adler! I loved Adler’s bookish journalism style (she was an NPR great!), but I really connected with the stories of regular people who were seekers just like me.”

“Scott Cunningham’s books really helped me.”

Illuminatus by Robert Anton Wilson & Robert Shea.”

“I read many ‘magical’ books before this but the ones that influenced me the most were Mastering Witchcraft by Huson, and The Magic of Witchcraft by The Frosts. They were my 16th birthday gift from my mom.”

To Ride A Silver Broomstick” by Silver Ravenwolf. It was the first Pagan book I read and the book that started my pagan path.”

“The two that come to mind first are The Spell of Making and Real Magic. I read those years after my initiation and found them both well worth reading for a number of reasons.”

Those are truly some great books worth reading. Speaking of great books worth reading, Oberon Zell released yet another book, titled, Histories Great Mysteries.

Here is part of the information on that book:

“Where was Middle Earth, and what were the “Crystal Ships” of Tolkien’s Elves? What is the relationship between the sinking of Atlantis, the Flood of Deucalion, and the Exodus?

“What was the dark secret of ancient Crete?

“What’s the true story of the War in Heaven and Clash of the Titans?

“Learn the truths behind the myths!”

Then came a sad tale written by The Wild Hunt that included Witchcraft and murder:

This article shocked many to silence and compassion. Here is the link to the full article: https://wildhunt.org/2024/01/iowa-man-accused-of-murdering-mother-for-practicing-witchcraft.html?fbclid=IwAR1DphJnt-pfO1b5ZbIqoJkY0DAw2sAAWa1GxJoF4ZqplcN1ZMNrr43oLW8

So, as you can see it has been another intriguing week in the Forum. Let us know what you think of it all in the comments and many blessings to all!
