This week’s stone is the powerhouse offshoot of chalcedony, Carnelian. Its fiery appearance speaks to the radiant effects that it projects into the lives of those who welcome its assistance.
Carnelian calms anger, envy, resentment, and hatred. It increases courage and confidence, so it is great for people who are forced to engage in public speaking when they are not accustomed to or comfortable with doing so.
It combats negative, intrusive, and racing thoughts, whether they generate from within the person or come from others around them. This can be a great benefit to empathic folks who have not yet learned to turn down the volume on the psychic chatter.
Known as the “lucky” stone, carnelian draws in good fortune and motivates us to achieve and do more than we think we can accomplish. It’s orange-red color relates to the sacral and root chakras, so it stimulates sexual energy and sparks passion within us, both creative and sexual.
Folklore says that carnelian eliminates nightmares and boosts the magical power of agates.
