Mugwort is the workhorse of magical herbalism with a wide variety of energetic uses. It is tall, green, and has small yellow flowers.
Called a “visionary herb,” it is often included in dream pillows with lavender to promote lucid and prophetic dreams. In waking visioning, it assists with astral travel and projection, as well as increasing one’s connection to spirit guide and ancestor communication.
Burning a mugwort and sandalwood mix assists with scrying and divination. Wash mirrors, prisms, and scrying tools such as crystal balls and obsidian mirrors with a mugworth infusion.
Mugwort increases love, lust, and fertility. Throw a handful of mugwort onto the fireplace home fire to ward off evil spirits and protect the residents of the home from evil influences.
Burned with dragon’s blood resin and patchouli in a loose incense, mugwort helps us to connect with our divine and highest selves, seeking out the authentic and best self and bringing it forward.
Athletes and long-distance runners put a bit of mugwort in their shoes to increase physical endurance. As with comfrey, place mugwort branches into a traveler’s suitcase to bring them safely to their destination.
Mugwort is sacred to the goddess Hecate and all Crone aspects of the Goddess as it is the herbal guardian of our inner and divine mysteries.
