The “third eye” is a concept embraced by many cultures. This uniquely empowered area of the physical body is associated with the brow chakra and with the color indigo. Friar Richard Rohr speculates that “First Eye” is what we perceive with the five physical senses. The “Second Eye” is our reasoning and reflection. The “Third Eye” goes further still and is, as Rohr puts it, “Having the mind of Christ.” It is a coming together of sacredness that puts one in a very holy and receptive state of mind. Many paths of yogic study use the third eye for inner focus. Continue reading Witch At The Crossroads: Third Eye Sight

Legend says Elecampane (Inula helenium) as named for Helen of Troy and grew in the places where her tears fell. Related to the sunflower, this plant is quite tall, up to sixty inches or so. It has a rigid stem with leaves that are green on the top and white on the bottom. It has vibrant yellow blooms that smell a bit like sweet camphor. This week, a student asked me about scrying: Is it real? Does it work? How do you do it? I did not believe what my High Priestess told me decades ago when I asked the same questions. She said if you sit in the dark in front of a mirror with nothing but candlelight, you will see amazing things. Of course, not believing it meant I was going to try it out as soon as I possibly could, which I did. Continue reading Ask A Witch: The Art of Mirror Scrying

I consider myself very fortunate to have had the tarot in my life for nearly 35 years. It’s such a wondrous tool for insight. Over time, my methods for doing readings have changed and evolved. Today in my journal as I turn the page, I find Magical Aroma Therapy and it begins with “Frankincense.” The first thing I wrote down is that frankincense heightened participants’ spiritual involvement in rites and has the word “euphoric” followed by a question mark. As it turns out, it can be euphoric as it contains the compound incensole acetate but for it to be effective one would have to use a very high concentration. Yet it is said the Greek philosopher Pythagoras used frankincense to enable him to prophesize.

What is Witchcraft?
That is a question that continues to be hotly debated on social media. There is a lot of “Who gets to decide that and why?” type of questions that come with it. The answer also depends on culture, pantheon, and personal beliefs. So, you may be asking why attempt to answer such a question? Well, as a teacher, and practicing Witch for over 50 years, I am in about 40-50 “witch” groups on social media and I see many looking for direction and firm answers, so I will attempt to provide some clarity. I do not usually do these types of readings because when we ask the cards a question, they respond based on the current energetic climate and where things are heading. To predict out for a full year means nothing changes from the moment of the reading, which is, of course, not a reasonable assumption on which to base a forecast. Even the reading itself is potential for change.
That being the case, I am doing this for Karen. I have three Karens in my life who I completely adore. I know other Karens, but man… these three… they just have my heart: Karen Albeck, Karen Jacoby, and Karen Stanley. One of the Karens asked me to do a 2024 reading and out of love and respect, I am doing it. <3 Continue reading Witch At The Crossroads: Reading for 2024

Last week, I did an intuitive reading for my elderly cousin via video call and as always, such readings are unique, but this one was more usual. Typically, people I do readings for I am not overly connected with but that was the main reason this reading was so different. My cousin and I share issues, history, and ancestors. In standard reading, this is not the case and it is trying enough to keep your personal stuff out of their reading. With this, there was no keeping my stuff out of this reading, adding empathic skills to it that made it more impactful. I cried more than she did. Continue reading The Cat’s Eye: Life As An Empathic Medium

I have been a psychic my whole life and when I was little, my mom and grandma introduced me into our family tradition. When I began writing about psychism, I found it very difficult to write about something that was like breathing to me. To sit and draw it all out step by step was a challenge but as I did so, I realized how beneficial it was to have it all laid out so it could be identified and used instead of mystified and indescribable. My psychism became a useable tool. Then I realized there are many psychics that might benefit from this too and that is how my book, Psychic Skills for Magic and Witchcraft, came to life. Continue reading How Psychic Skills Enhance Magic and Witchcraft
